For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1941 Parker Double Jewel Vacumatic Fountain Pen with Jeweler Coin Stacked Cap Banding in Azure Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Blue Diamond Gold Filled Feather Split Arrow Clip, Wide Coin Stacked Jewelers Cap Band, and 2-Tone 14K Gold NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, polished & waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.
The celluloid on this Parker Vacumatic is lovely and vibrant! This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Blue Diamond Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip displaying no wear. The Gold Filled Wide Jewelers Coin Stack Cap Banding displays a wonderful gold filled color very little wear. The top and bottom jewels are black and polished to a great shine. The gold filled blind cap tassie has a gorgeous gold filled color that displays no brassing. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 1 (for 1941) in the 4th quarter". The transparency of the barrel is excellent as one can easily see through it, albeit with mild ambering. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a Major Size measuring 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.
The 2nd Generation Speedline Filling Unit works great, typically in my tests with water about 7 to 9 presses and it will fill roughly full. I have greased the filling unit and now operates smoothly and works flawlessly. 2nd Generation Speedline filling units were manufactured from 1938 to 1941 and this Parker Vac has the proper filling unit for a 2nd Generation Vac, which this is.
This Parker has 14K NIB that writes very smooth with a wet line. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .52mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the images, the NIB writes with a fine to broad stroke. The fine stroke measures at .45mm with light pressure and the broad stroke measures 1.02mm under medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is a scarce Parker Vacumatic Double Jewel Azure Fountain Pen with Coin Stacked Wide Jewelers Cap Banding. The azure color was manufactured for roughly 18 months that started approximately in mid-1940 - compared to 4 years for the other Vacumatic colors. This Parker Vac would grade in the Very Fine to Excellent Condition. This fine Parker writing instrument is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
